UniSlope 3K Highline Custom Tileable Freeplacement Wetroom Kit

What is the UniSlope 3K and how does free-placement drain positioning work?

The UniSlope® 3K Free-Standing Linear Wet Room Kit is the most flexible system in the UniSlope range. Unlike wall-mounted kits, the linear drain can be positioned centrally, offset within the shower area, or close to a wall to suit the room layout and floor construction.

This additional flexibility makes it particularly useful where standard drain positions aren't practical. When installing close to a wall, the drain should be set slightly away from it unless you're using a Unidrain Wall Mounted drain with a vertical wall flange. Leaving this gap allows the wall-to-floor junction to be properly waterproofed and helps minimise the risk of movement affecting the seal over time. Each kit includes the linear drain, a preformed gradient board and the complete waterproofing system for a streamlined installation.

Can the UniSlope 3K accommodate difficult or unexpected joist positions in period properties?

Yes, this is one of the key advantages of the UniSlope 3K. Because the drain isn't fixed to a wall, it gives installers far more freedom to work around joists that don't align with a standard wall-mounted layout, which is a common issue in older timber floor structures.

Can the drain position be changed during installation if constraints shift mid-project?

The UniSlope 3K offers considerably more flexibility than a wall-mounted system when determining the drain position during the planning stage. However, once the board has been cut and installed to suit a specific layout, repositioning the drain would require the installation to be reworked. For this reason, the final drain location should always be confirmed before installation begins.

Is the UniSlope 3K suitable for listed buildings and Victorian floor conversions?

Yes. The UniSlope 3K is particularly well suited to refurbishment projects, including many Victorian and period properties, because its free-placement drain can often be positioned around existing joists rather than requiring structural alterations.

For listed buildings, however, any necessary building consents remain separate from product selection and should be confirmed with the relevant planning authority before work begins.

What is the difference between UniSlope 3K free-placement and 1K wall-mounted kits?

The main difference is the positioning of the drain. The UniSlope 1K is designed for installations where the drain is located against a wall, creating a single-direction fall. The UniSlope 3K provides much greater flexibility by allowing the drain to be positioned away from the wall, making it particularly useful where joist positions or room layouts prevent a standard installation.

Does the UniSlope 3K work on both timber and concrete floor structures?

Yes. The UniSlope 3K is suitable for installation on both timber and concrete subfloors. On timber floors, careful preparation of the subfloor and correct installation of the waterproofing system are essential to create a durable, watertight wet room. The free-placement drain also provides greater flexibility when working around existing joist layouts, making it particularly useful in refurbishment projects and older properties.

Is the UniSlope 3K compatible with underfloor heating?

The UniSlope 3K can often be incorporated into wet room floors with underfloor heating, although compatibility depends on the heating system and floor build-up being used. For this reason, the installation should be planned in accordance with the underfloor heating manufacturer's guidance and the UniSlope installation instructions.
