The challenge

The Four Seasons Hotel has been a familiar structure on Park Lane since the 1970s and has had numerous refurbishments to maintain itself at the pinnacle of luxury and hotel hospitality.

The new refurbishment presented construction and design challenges, overcome through innovative and intelligent product design, specification and installation. These wet room installations needed to be completed without compromising the existing floor constructions. This meant careful planning and specification had to be carried out by WM | Wetroom Materials to facilitate such requirements. Furthermore, the interiors would have to uphold the hotel’s world-renowned status in being one of London’s most luxurious and hospitality venues in the capital’s most affluent areas.

The solution

WM | Wetroom Materials were able to work closely with the architects and developers and propose a drainage solution that would create minimal issues during installation and provide a high-end finish that could be in keeping with the hotels’ prestigious status.

The drainage solution included a structurally strong, pressed stainless steel drain body with rear mounted flanges that secure the drain to the wall of the room. Vertical outlets were adopted by the design in order to take the waste away from the drainage system and towards to SVP in a more direct route. This also meant the capacity of the drain was increased and likelihood of the drain backing up would be reduced, creating a more efficient drain that requires little maintenance.

The drain finish that was selected was the HighLine Panel and Frame. Made from two components that each provide a minimalistic and sophisticated finish to the wetroom design, with a durability and quality that will not deteriorate through use and cleaning over time.
