How To Refresh Your Bathroom With A Coloured Wet Room

Post by WM Wetroom Materials

Is your bathroom in need of a refresh? Tired grouting, uneven lighting, and an unnecessarily brusque start to the day?

You’re not alone, and – thankfully – there’s an easily accessible answer.

Wet room design has rendered tired bathrooms a headache of the past. Here’s what you need to do!

Splash the colour
The enlivening tang of sea salt…
The soothing scent of Provenciale lavender fields…
The rolling greens of tumbling hills…
A ‘to-the-point’ espresso?

How do you want to start your day?

Innovation in wet room design means that you now have complete control over your personal palette, and the palette of your clients.

Whether your ideal wet room is a soft blend of ochre or full-on shocking pink, anything is possible. Open your eyes to the colour of your choice, and let your morning shower enhance your day!

It’s all in the lighting

Bathrooms of the past were places of eye-watering neon lighting. Anyone who has blinked painfully at reflective gloss tiles in the buzz of a blazing 90 watt bulb will be all too familiar with the experience.

Thankfully, recessed lighting has meant that the wet rooms of today are comfortable, luxurious spaces.

Accented lighting means that light is subtle, controlled, and enhancing.

Even if your wet room is windowless, lighting controls the timbre and temperament. IP65 rated recessed lights can up-light or down-light. Combine these with coloured tiles to create a welcoming environment.

Inside-outside

Interior designers and architects often mention the term ‘inside-outside’, but what does it really mean?

In the case of a wet room, it means creating a natural, earthy, outdoor vibe inside the house. Think tumbling waterfalls, lush rainforest, or the gentle ebb and flow of a tide.

How do you do it?

Opt for tiles that echo the outdoors. Natural wood or stone are good starting points. Trustworthy slate, honey-hued limestone, or gently glittering granite will all help to make your wet room space feel connected to nature.

Offset this with dashes of living green or soft cloud.

Go wild!

Why not?! Bathrooms are, after all, the one place where it is possible to make a real aesthetic statement. Unencumbered by extraneous clutter and furniture, the bathroom is one space where you can set a theme and keep it.

Accenting bold colours is one way to bring life into a tired space. A bright basin cabinet, an accented picture wall, or some creative architecture can make all the difference.

Or, you can simply wash the rule book down the plughole. In a bathroom, nothing is stopping you.

And the evidence suggests that new wet room innovations mean that people really are going wild. In fact, in Scandinavia they are taking this idea to a whole new level, by making living plants a living wall!

Breathe in the beauty

Today’s wet room design and innovation means that bathrooms have caught up with the rest of interior design.

No longer a boring, brightly-lit, uninspiring space, bathrooms are now the playground of the imagination.

Whether you want to start your day by stepping into a soothing forest paradise, or blast yourself into the day with a hurl of sparkling rainbows, wet rooms are your ally.
