This is a mixed-use, 43-storey tower in the heart of the City of London. It comprises a 237-room, 5* luxury hotel and 160 apartments or ‘Sky Residences’. Soaring above the city from level 21 to 41, the sky residences have unique views of some of London’s most iconic landmarks. Incorporating luxury apartments, private amenities and Pan Pacific Hotel, London’s new landmark tower is set to become the new statement for sophisticated modern living.
The challenge
Working closely with the architects, WM and MSMR agreed on the use of Unidrain wet room linear drains. These were to be installed into prefabricated PODs before being transported to the project site and lifted into place.
Due to the versatility and range of drainage options available within the Unidrain seclection, we were able to design a wet room that kept within the parameters of the POD construction. The use of POD fabrication meant the project timescale was reduced and work efficiency increase.
WM | Wetroom Materials and the POD manufacturer were able to work together to find a solution that matched both the architect and contractor’s design expectations and allowed for the installation to be completed in a timely manner.
The solution
In keeping with the high-end nature of the project, the selection of materials and finishes used within the project provided an elegant design response that complements the aesthetics of the surrounding city.
A total of 200 Unidrain linear drain units were installed onto this project, all featuring the popular Unidrain Wall Mounted HighLine Custom drainage finish. By using the HighLine Custom finish, which is available across a range of Unidrain products, the tile can be laid directly on top of the drain to create a seamless and discrete drainage channel.
Many high-end projects opt to use the HighLine Custom finish within their wet room design as the flush finishes complement a tranquil and relaxing space, where drainage channels and other functional features do not disturb other aesthetic and functional aspects of the building.
The luxurious Pan Pacific London will provide a facility unmatched in scale and quality by any existing hotels in the area. The Pacific Ballroom will be the Square Mile’s first dedicated ballroom, hosting banquets for up to 370 guests. The provision of top-quality meeting and events space, including the double-height ballroom, together with the other public functions of the hotel will support the city’s function as a centre for international business.
