Low Profile Wet Room Drain

When designing your wet room, one of the key components you need to consider is the drainage system. In order for a wet room to work you’ll need to fit the drain within the floor and there needs to be enough available floor depth to allow for the drain, falls in the floor and the waste water pipes. In some circumstances, floor depth availability may be limited, which is when a low profile wet room drain can be used.

Why choose a low profile wet room drain?

We know that every inch of living space is important, whether that is in your own home or within residential developments. Wet rooms are a great use of space to replace the traditional bathroom. By incorporating a low profile wet room drain, you are able to reduce the floor depth to a minimum and still achieve the luxury experience provided by a wet room.

Low profile floor drains are also ideal for use where existing floor levels require modification to accommodate a wet room. The smaller required depth creates less opportunity to damage the structure of joints in the floor, which complies with building regulations as the strength of joists should never be compromised. Shallow wetroom drains are ideal for thin screed and concrete floors.

Our low profile outlets are available in the following product ranges:

Choosing the location and size

A low profile gully only requires a building depth of 64mm, and can offer greater flexibility as they can be wall mounted, or positioned anywhere on the wet room shower floor. Our range of slim drain solutions means you are flexible when it comes to choosing your ideal location for the water channel.

Determine the flooring

When it comes to installing a wet room drainage system, you need to determine your type of flooring to use in your wetroom. Depending on your chosen floor finish, you may need a drain with a low installation depth due to sub flooring constraints.

You will need to factor in your chosen floor finish depths when calculating your wet room measurements:

  • Poured Concrete or Resin floors 3mm +
  • Vinyl (1 – 5mm)
  • Stone (18 – 28+mm)
  • Ceramic tiles (7 – 18mm)

Choosing your grate finish

Once you have decided what style of wet room design suits you best, you can then choose your drain grate colour to fit in line with the rest of your wet room. You can pick from a selection of different materials, finishes and colours due to our wide range of low profile drain channel products.

Most of our coloured wet room shower drains are now available in the following metallic colours:

  • Brass
  • Copper
  • Polished stainless steel
  • Black
  • Nickel
